Tree Service in Marion County, FL

Marion County covers more than 1,600 square miles of north-central Florida, and the property types shift dramatically from one end to the other. The northwest corridor near the World Equestrian Center holds large horse farms with fence-line trees and open pasture, while the south end around Marion Oaks and Belleview is dense with newer single-family subdivisions built on former scrubland. The county's dominant soils are sandy over limestone on the uplands, with clay subsoil in the horse country pastures that retains moisture and affects how root systems develop. Live oak hammocks on limestone-influenced soil grow some of the largest trees in the region, and those trees require skilled climbing and rigging to remove safely near structures.

Marion County's Property Mix Demands Versatile Tree Crews

The clay subsoil in Marion County's horse country pastures holds moisture differently than the sandy upland soils near Silver Springs. Clay-influenced soil can heave and shift in summer heat, which affects how root systems anchor large trees near fence lines and barns. Trimming or removing trees in these conditions requires reading the ground before the work starts.

Silver Springs Shores was established in the early 1970s, and many of the trees planted with those homes are now mature live oaks and laurel oaks with canopies that extend well over rooftops. Laurel oak in particular develops internal decay faster than live oak, and a tree that looks healthy from the street can have a hollow trunk. We assess each tree before cutting to make sure the removal plan accounts for what is actually inside.

One of our managers is on every job site in Marion County, whether it is a single stump in Summerfield or a multi-tree removal on an acreage parcel near Ocklawaha. You will not get a crew that shows up without supervision. We also answer the phone at all hours, so if a storm drops a tree on your property overnight, you can reach us right then.

Every service, available in Marion County, FL

Tree removal is the most varied service in Marion County because the county holds everything from massive live oaks on horse farm acreage to smaller trees on quarter-acre suburban lots in Marion Oaks and Summerfield. Tree trimming is in steady demand across the Silver Springs Shores corridor, where homes built in the 1970s and 1980s now sit under mature oak canopies that push branches toward rooflines. Stump grinding is a frequent add-on in the newer subdivisions south of Ocala, where builders leave stumps from land clearing that homeowners later need removed. Land clearing supports the ongoing residential development in Marion Oaks, where new construction phases regularly require lot prep.

I have used Browns Tree Service 3 times in the past 3+ years. They were initially recommended to me by a neighbor. Recently I hired them to do some extensive tree work. It was an all day job removing some serious tree growth that could become a threat to our home, especially considering another hurricane season is approaching. The crew arrived when scheduled and went right to work. I had some concern that they could damage my lawn with their motorized equipment. Owner, Trevor Brown assured me they would put down large rubber pads to protect our lawn and it worked like a charm. His crew, Brandon, Ray, Ron and Cory went right to work and did an incredible job cutting and carefully lowering huge limbs to preclude any damage. At the end of the day the entire job from start to finish was done in excellent fashion including some serious clean up. I can highly recommend Browns Tree service and I'm giving them a well deserved 5 star rating. Let me add that includes, what I considered, a very reasonable price. Thanks again Trevor and your entire crew for a great job… Len Smith, Dunnellon, Fl

We recently needed to have two trees removed from our property. I secured two bids for the work, one of those bids was from Trevor Brown. We chose Brown's Tree Service for two reasons. The first reason was on the recommendation from a neighbor who had had some extensive work done last year. The second reason is Trevor's assurance that his workers would put down protective rubber mats on our lawn as the machinery ran over it. The workers arrived on time, took the trees down, and completely cleaned up all remnants of the two trees. The next day one of his workers ground the two stumps to ground level. Based on our experience with Brown's Tree Service, I would highly recommend them to anyone needing tree work in the Dunnellon area

Tree Service FAQ for Marion County, FL

Common questions from Marion County, FL customers about our services, process, and coverage.

Large live oaks near horse barns require a rigged removal rather than a straight fell, because the drop zone is almost always occupied by a structure, fence, or animals. We section the tree from the top down, lowering each piece with ropes to control where it lands. The clay-influenced soil in the horse country corridor also means we check root stability before climbing, since saturated clay can shift under equipment weight.

Stumps from live oaks and laurel oaks planted in the 1970s in Silver Springs Shores can have wide root flares that extend several feet from the trunk base. We grind to below grade across the full root flare, not just the center of the stump, so the area is level and ready for sod or replanting. The sandy soil in that corridor makes the grinding itself straightforward once the flare is mapped out.

Land clearing in Marion Oaks is a regular part of our work in Marion County. New construction phases in that area frequently require clearing sand pine, scrub oak, and palmetto from lots before a slab can be poured. We clear to the spec the builder needs and can handle both small residential lots and larger multi-lot phases.

Summer thunderstorms in south Marion County bring intense, localized wind bursts that can snap or uproot trees with little warning. Trees that have not been trimmed in several years develop dense, heavy crowns that catch wind like a sail. Laurel oak and water oak are the most common failure species in Belleview and Summerfield because both grow fast and develop structural weaknesses as they age.
