Tree Service in Ocala, FL

Ocala is the county seat of Marion County and holds a wide range of property types within city limits, from the historic tree-lined streets near downtown to the active-adult communities along SR-200 and the newer subdivisions in the southwest corridor. The city receives roughly 52 inches of rainfall annually, with the heaviest rain falling between June and September, which drives fast tree growth and keeps the ground saturated during hurricane season. Common trees across Ocala's residential areas include live oak, laurel oak, southern magnolia, and slash pine, and the mix of species matters because laurel oak and water oak develop structural problems faster than live oak as they age. The high water table near Silver Springs, just east of the city, affects root depth on properties in that corridor.

Ocala's Year-Round Growing Season Means Trees Don't Wait

Ocala's 52 inches of annual rainfall, concentrated in the summer months, pushes tree growth faster than most homeowners expect. A live oak that was trimmed two seasons ago can have new branches extending over a roofline by the time hurricane season arrives. Staying ahead of that growth with regular trimming is less expensive than dealing with storm damage after a heavy limb comes down.

The neighborhoods around Silver Springs Shores were established in the early 1970s, and the laurel oaks planted with those homes are now large enough to cause serious damage if they fail. Laurel oak develops internal decay faster than live oak, and the high water table near Silver Springs limits how deep roots can anchor. We assess each tree before cutting so the removal plan accounts for what the root system is actually doing underground.

We answer the phone at all hours and put a manager on every job site in Ocala. That is not a marketing line — it is how we operate. When a storm drops a tree on your property at midnight, you can call us and get a real answer about what happens next.

Every service, available in Ocala, FL

Tree trimming is the highest-volume service in Ocala because the city's subtropical climate pushes tree growth fast, and the mature oaks in neighborhoods like Silver Springs Shores and the historic downtown district need regular crown work to stay clear of rooflines and power lines. Tree removal is in steady demand in the active-adult communities along SR-200, where older trees planted during initial development have reached the end of their structural life. Stump grinding is a standard follow-up across Ocala's suburban subdivisions, where HOA landscaping requirements often call for clean ground after a removal. Storm-season demand for all services spikes between June and November.

I have used Browns Tree Service 3 times in the past 3+ years. They were initially recommended to me by a neighbor. Recently I hired them to do some extensive tree work. It was an all day job removing some serious tree growth that could become a threat to our home, especially considering another hurricane season is approaching. The crew arrived when scheduled and went right to work. I had some concern that they could damage my lawn with their motorized equipment. Owner, Trevor Brown assured me they would put down large rubber pads to protect our lawn and it worked like a charm. His crew, Brandon, Ray, Ron and Cory went right to work and did an incredible job cutting and carefully lowering huge limbs to preclude any damage. At the end of the day the entire job from start to finish was done in excellent fashion including some serious clean up. I can highly recommend Browns Tree service and I'm giving them a well deserved 5 star rating. Let me add that includes, what I considered, a very reasonable price. Thanks again Trevor and your entire crew for a great job… Len Smith, Dunnellon, Fl

We recently needed to have two trees removed from our property. I secured two bids for the work, one of those bids was from Trevor Brown. We chose Brown's Tree Service for two reasons. The first reason was on the recommendation from a neighbor who had had some extensive work done last year. The second reason is Trevor's assurance that his workers would put down protective rubber mats on our lawn as the machinery ran over it. The workers arrived on time, took the trees down, and completely cleaned up all remnants of the two trees. The next day one of his workers ground the two stumps to ground level. Based on our experience with Brown's Tree Service, I would highly recommend them to anyone needing tree work in the Dunnellon area

Tree Service FAQ for Ocala, FL

Common questions from Ocala, FL customers about our services, process, and coverage.

Live oaks in Ocala's residential neighborhoods typically need trimming every two to three years to keep branches clear of rooflines, gutters, and power lines. The city's heavy summer rainfall accelerates growth, so a tree trimmed in spring can have significant new extension by fall. Structural pruning that removes crossing branches and deadwood also reduces the risk of limb failure during the June-through-November storm season.

Live oaks in Ocala are long-lived and structurally strong, so trimming focuses on removing deadwood and managing crown spread without cutting major scaffold limbs. Laurel oaks are shorter-lived and more prone to internal decay, so trimming often reveals structural problems that point toward eventual removal. If a laurel oak in your yard has a hollow section or significant deadwood in the upper crown, removal is often the safer long-term choice.

Yes. Communities like On Top of the World and Stone Creek along SR-200 have mature trees from their original development phases that now need removal. We work within the access constraints of these communities, including gated entry, narrow community roads, and close lot spacing. Stump grinding is available as a follow-up to leave the ground clean and level.

It depends on where the damage is. If a storm breaks branches in the outer crown but the main trunk and scaffold limbs are intact, trimming to remove the damaged wood and reshape the crown is often the right call. If the trunk is split, the main crotch is cracked, or the root ball has lifted from the ground, removal is the safer option. We assess each tree on site before recommending a course of action.

Yes, we grind stumps left by other crews. We need to know the approximate species and diameter of the stump before arriving so we bring the right equipment. Live oak stumps in Ocala tend to have wide root flares that require grinding beyond the visible stump edge, and we grind the full flare to below grade so the area is ready for sod or replanting.
